What Is Standing Out Through Two Weeks
Anthony Edwards Has Turned The Corner And Become Potentially The Most Dangerous Scorer In The NBA. But How Has He Done It?

Welcome to this week's edition of "What Stands Out". Last week, I investigated some of the best offensive and defensive lineups in the NBA during the first week of action. Now that we've completed the second full week of the NBA season, let's delve into something that's caught our attention "Around The NBA".
Anthony Edwards’s Pull-Up Jump Shot
Edwards is currently having a successful season, shooting a career-high 52% from the floor. He seems to be unaffected by his participation in international basketball before the season began. In the past three years, he has not shot higher than 45% from the floor. During each of those seasons, his Pull-Up jump shot attempts have increased by at least 1.2 attempts per game, but his accuracy has not significantly improved with the increased volume.
However, this year is different. Not only has Edwards increased his use of Pull-Up jump shots (averaging 10.8 per game, which is the third highest in the NBA), but he has also improved his accuracy significantly. He is currently ranked second in the NBA for shooting accuracy, with 52.3% overall and 53.8% from beyond the arc, which leads the league.
As demonstrated in these clips, Edwards utilizes his already impressive skill set to create space for easy pull-up shots. (Thanks to NBA.com for the footage.)
Edwards recognized that he had Horford one-on-one after a defensive switch that removed Jrue Holiday from the equation. Horford was aware that Edwards could easily pass him, so he gave him some extra space. However, when Jaylen Brown closed off Edwards' lane to the basket, Edwards used a size-up move and successfully made an 18-foot jumper, leading to the Timberwolves taking a 3-point lead in overtime.
Edwards is a versatile player who poses a significant threat from all parts of the court, particularly the mid-range on the left block where he boasts a 66% shooting accuracy. This means that Scottie Barnes needs to be ready for Edwards to take a mid-range pull-up shot. As you observe the clip, you'll notice that Barnes is caught off guard by the screen switch from Naz Reid.
He is also aware of the scouting report, which recommends that he maintain a safe distance because Edwards wants to get to that area. However, Edwards' refined pull-up jumper allows him not only to get an open look but also an open look from "Above The Break," where he shoots an impressive 60% from beyond the arc.
